Chapter 273

-Grayson'’s POV-

< 70%

The boat cut through the dark waters, slicing across the waves with brutal speed. The roar of the engine was

nothing compared to the storm raging inside me.

Ava.

| could still see the image burned into my mind-the bruise, the way her body had gone still. It tightened around

my ribs like a vice, crushing every ounce of reason left in me. Dylan had her. He had hurt her. And if | didn’t get

there in time...

No. | couldn't think like that.

| gritted my teeth, my fingers tightening around the wheel. The ocean stretched endlessly ahead, the moonlight

barely breaking through the thick clouds rolling in. The scent of rain clung to the air. A storm was coming.

Behind me, my men were ready. Armed. Ruthless. They knew their orders. The moment we reached that ship,

there would be no hesitation. No mercy. Shoot to kill. Every single one of Dylan's men would die before they

could even think of stopping me.

“Grayson.”

Rickon’s voice cut through the wind. I didn’t look at him, my focus locked straight ahead, eyes scanning the

horizon for any sign of the ship.

“There's a storm rolling in fast,” He said, stepping beside me. His voice was steady, but | caught the edge of

tension beneath it.

| counted. One. Two. Three. A distant rumble of thunder echoed through the sky. The air was heavy with it, thick

like the weight in my chest.

“I know,” | said, my voice even. | didn’t care about the storm. Didn't care if the sea itself turned against me.

Rickon exhaled sharply, shaking his head, “This isn’t just slight rain. It's going to get bad out there. Fast.”

| finally turned to him, my eyes cold, “Then we’ll move faster.”

He didn’t argue. He knew better.

My wolf growled in my head making what | already knew echo in my head. | was running out of time. | could feel

it— slipping through my fingers, second by second. | had no idea how long he had been planning this, if this was

just a takeover from his uncle but I did know that the end gof this would be him getting the throne and he

already hated Ava so without a doubt, | knew he didn’t have any plans on keeping her alive.

She was bait and | didn’t know how long before he decided her part as bait was over.

| pushed the throttle harder. The boat shuddered under the force, waves slamming against the hull as we tore

through the water. Every man on board gripped their weapons tighter, bracing for impact.

And if I lost her...

No. | wasn’t even going to finish that thought.

| turned to Rickon. “The second we board, | go for Dylan. You handle the rest.”

Rickon nodded, his expression hard. “And if—"

“Don’t finish that statement.” | cut in and stopped talking.

The storm cracked overhead, lightning flashing across the sky. The waves surged higher, throwing salt into the

air. The ship cinto view-a dark shape against the water, barely lit. The sight of it made something snap

inside me.

I wasn't too late.

Not yet.

| raised a hand, and my men moved into position. The plan was simple. Overwhelm. Destroy. Leave nothing

standing.

Rickon gave a sharp nod. “Let's end this.”

| didn’t respond.

The boat surged forward, hammering against the waves with each brutal slam of water against its hull. My pulse

roared in my ears, drowning out everything except the singular focus burning in my mind-Ava.

The ship loomed closer now, a dark, its massive frcutting through the churning water. It dwarfed my

powerboat, an iron fortress against the storm rolling in behind us. The sky had darkened to an unforgiving shade

of gray, thick clouds swallowing the moon. The scent of rain sharpened, mingling with the salt in the air, and in

the distance, thunder rumbled- a low, ominous grow! that vibrated through my bones.

A storm was coming.

So was war.

Then it happened.

A blast tore through the air.

A deafening, gut-punching sound erupted from the ship, sending a shockwave that nearly capsized the boat. The

impact rocked me, nearly throwingoff my feet. My men cursed, gripping whatever they could to steady

themselves.

| clenched my jaw, adjusting my stance, shoving the throttle forward. Hold on, Ava.

The wind lashed at my face, the boat shuddering under the force of the storm building around us.

Then, through the chaos, | heard her.

Ava.

A sharp, desperate gasp-struggling, broken. She was fighting to breathe.

Something primal snapped inside me.

My wolf surged forward, a savage growl rattling through my chest. The bond between us flickered-faint, but

enough. Enough to tellshe was still alive. But barely.

Faster. Get there faster.

| spotted the boarding point-a metal ladder hanging from the side of the massive ship. The moment we were

close enough, | moved. | didn’t wait for the boat to fully stabilize; | leapt, hands gripping the wet, ladder. The

moment my shoes hit the rungs, | was climbing, taking them two at a time, ignoring the burning in my muscles.

The ship rocked from the force of the storm, the waves growing violent beneath me, but | didn’t falter.

Lightning cracked across the sky, illuminating the deck as | hauled myself over the railing.

And then | saw them.

Ava was on the floor, her body twisted, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

Dylan stood over her, his claws raised, his face twisted with triumph.

Everything insidewent still.

Then, it erupted.

A snarl ripped from my throat, raw and animalistic. | didn’t think. I didn’t plan. | shifted and moved.

One second, Dylan was standing. The next, | was slamming into him, the force of my body sending us both

crashing onto the railing. We rolled across the slick metal, my fists connecting with his ribs, his jaw, his throat.

Dylan shifted mid-impact, his bones snapping, fur erupting along his body as his wolf took form. His snarl mixed

with the storm as his massive frlunged at me.

I didn’t wait and I bit into him.

| clamped down on his shoulder, tearing through muscle and fur, the taste of his blood exploding across my

tongue. Dylan howled, his body twisting as he slashed atwith his claws, raking across my side. White-hot

pain seared through me, but | didn’t let go.

Gunshots erupted across the deck.

The sounds of battle merged with the howl of the wind, the roar of the waves. My men had boarded. They were

fighting. But my focus was locked.

Dylan thrashed, managing to shoveback, but | was already lunging again. His claws lashed out, aiming for

my throat-I ducked, my teeth snapping at his ribs instead. He twisted, dodging, and his claws raked against my

face.

Pain flared.

| barely felt it.

Because at that moment, | heard her.

Ava.

A choked sound, a pained exhale.

Ava.

A choked sound, a pained exhale.

| turned-just for a second.

And Dylan took it.

He slammed into me, his full weight drivingbackward. | hit the deck hard, the breath knocked from my lungs.

| turned-just for a second.

And Dylan took it.
