Chapter 133
Harvey watched as Max was at a disadvantage, a mix of anger and pity welling up inside him.
Winona brought over dessert. Having watched Harvey grow up, she cared for him deeply. She naturally asked,
"Where's Ms. Laurent? How cyou didn't bring her home, young master?"
Harvey paused. He said, "It's late. She's already asleep."
Winona nodded, exchanged a glance with Pauline, and left.
Pauline tried to pry into his affairs again, but Harvey's response was so cautious that there was no room for any
leaks. He made it clear that he didn't want his mother interfering in his personal life.
Max got the hint. He chuckled lightly, "Did you have a spat with Ms. Laurent?"
Harvey sternly replied, "Max, it seems you're not busy enough with the Velona Corporation."
Max's face darkened, and Harvey lost his appetite. He got up and headed upstairs.
Orlena couldn't help but call him. "It seems like you're biased against Max."
Harvey turned around. His gaze was cold as it landed on Max. "Really? | didn't notice."
Max's expression worsened, glaring at the privileged Harvey. Clearly, he had suffered a loss on Eloise.
Well, with all the women fawning over him usually, of course, he'd be uncomfortable dealing with a tough cookie
like Eloise.
Max remembered how Harvey had seemed indifferent towards her, as if he was just playing around. Harvey
probably didn't realize he had genuinely fallen for her.
Max didn't pick a fight with the heartbroken man. He left the Horigan Mansion and couldn't help but glance at
the calendar once he got in his car.

In two days, he could see Eloise. He imagined the surprise on her face when she saw him, her expression would
be vivid, even a bit adorable.
Max couldn't help but gently stroke his steering wheel.
Eloise returned hfrom the hotel.
When she got out of the car, she got a bit soaked from the rain. She went back to her apartment, took a hot
shower, drank svitamin C, and then she felt a bit better.
It was late.
She still had work to do, so she fought off her fatigue, opened her laptop on the couch, and finished the day's
financial report.
Work helped her forget her troubles. But as she lay in bed in the quiet of the night, she couldn't help but think of
Harvey, remembering the good times they had in the past, and recalling their argument tonight.
Eloise grabbed a pillow and covered her face, forbidding herself from thinking about him.
The next two days, she and Harvey didn't contact each other, but she saw news about him in the newspaper.
He won an international lawsuit and was in high spirits. Countless flashbulbs were pointed at him; even the
female reporters looked at him admiringly. But as he stood there being interviewed, his handsface showed
no emotion.
The headline was sensational - "The undefeated 'lucifer' of the legal world!"
Eloise held her cup, lost in thought. She gently stroked the photo in the newspaper. She had never seen such a
stern Harvey. She had seen him in a bad mood, but it was more of an everyday annoyance, just a cheeky,
annoying guy.
However, Harvey in a suit in court was irresistible. She remembered what Harvey once said, who took advantage
of whom, it was hard to say.
After seeing his photo, Eloise felt that he was right. She hated that she couldn't resist his charm.
"What are you looking at?"
Vanessa walked over and took a glance, then chuckled, "Looks good! Eloise, how does he perform on bed?"
Vanessa had no plans to get married, so she was always very open minded. Vanessa knew about the conflict
between her and Harvey, so she didn't say much. "Eloise, get ready. We're going to have dinner with Judson. His
wife will also be there tonight. We need to win her over to secure this investment."
Eloise understood perfectly.
Judson was in his 30s. His wife probably wouldn't want the women around her husband to be too attractive, so
Eloise chose a professional outfit, tied up her long hair, and looked very professional.
When they arrived at the restaurant, they bumped into Judson's family.
Judson was very friendly, his wife, Amber, was very kind, and their child was adorable.
Eloise relaxed.
During the meal, Vanessa discussed future plans with Judson, her words splendid.
Eloise was responsible for taking care of Amber and the child. Amber really liked Eloise and decided to let her
child learn piano from Eloise.
Vanessa got up and said to Judson and Amber, "We're lucky to have met a benefactor like Judson when we just
started our business."
Vanessa finished her wine. Judson patted Vanessa's shoulder and smiled. "Actually, the one who really helped
you is someone else."
Vanessa and Eloise were stunned. Someone else? Who?
Amber whispered, "Actually, Judson was just acting on someone else's behalf. That person has always wanted to
work with Ms. Laurent, but he was afraid she would refuse."
Eloise had a hunch who it was. Her expression slightly changed, but it wasn't appropriate to make a scene in this
situation.

Just then, the door opened. Max walked in, dressed in a classic black and white suit, looking very handsome.
Max looked at her. "Eloise."
Eloise was still standing there, holding her wine glass, forcing a smile, "It's Mr. Velona."
Vanessa was worried she would lose her composure. Eloise held Vanessa's hand to reassure her. She said to
Judson and Amber, "I have spersonal matters to discuss with Mr. Velona. Judson, Amber, please excuse me
for a moment. Vanessa will take care of you."
Judson was a bit at a loss.
Eloise left first. Max chuckled and followed her out.
"Eloise." He called her name, then said, "I told you. | just want to make up for it. Please don't reject me."
Max's tone was very gentle. Ever since he realized what he had lost, his attitude towards Eloise had changed. He
wanted to give her the best, but he didn't know if she was still willing to accept.
Eloise halted. Their eyes met in the hallway. She got it. Maybe he really had feelings for her and was trying to
please her now. But it was too late. For her, Eloise, this kind of pleasing after hurting held no value whatsoever.
Eloise kept her cool. "Max, we're done. Orlena's pure and beautiful, and you should cherish her. Let's stop
making each other uncomfortable, okay?"
Max casually slid one hand into his pocket. He gave a slight chuckle. "Eloise, do you still believe that Harvey's
going to put a ring on your finger?"
A pang of pain shot through Eloise's heart. She pressed her lips tightly together, "This has nothing to do with
Harvey."
"Nothing?" Max took a step closer to her.
He didn't show any reaction on the surface, but without Eloise noticing, he suddenly got closer to her, trapping
her between himself and the wall. It was as if he was holding her in his arms.
Eloise leaned against his shoulder and pushed him away. "Max, have you lost your marbles?"
