Chapter 430 Mine Forever

Lenora guessed that Tom was actually Elijah because she had caught a glimpse of him the day she went to the

magazine publisher.

At first, she thought he just looked familiar and wasn't certain.

Later, she reasoned that if Zachary truly wanted the best for her and wanted to sever ties with her, he would still

have arranged for someone to follow her and ensure her safety.

Tom, who exposed Ivan's scheme, the one who drove away the Clusian neighbor, the supposed truths revealed

by Charles, and that familiar shadow she'd seen-all these pieces suddenly clicked together in her mind.

If Zachary really assigned someone to protect her, there would definitely be someone shadowing her when she

went out at night.

At the police station, while questioning the officer, she stood by the window and glanced outside. At once, she

spotted that sfamiliar figure in the distance.

When those punks appeared, almost too conveniently, she deliberately provoked them, forcing Elijah to reveal

himself.

Seeing his identity exposed, Elijah scratched his nose and asked, "How did you figure it out? Did Charles tell

you?"

"I guessed it myself. Let's go. I'll buy you a coffee."

At a nearby café, Lenora crossed her arms and leaned leisurely against her chair. "Okay, tellwhat's going

on."

"What else is there to say? Didn't you already figure it out?" Elijah spread his hands.

"Did Zachary send you?"

"Who else could it be?"

Now certain that Tom was indeed Elijah, Lenora began to believe what Charles had said.

She still had no idea what Zachary was up to, though.

Has he lost his mind? He cup with such a ridiculous way to sever ties with me. "Have you been following me

since | arrived in Fairlake?"

"| got here a day after you did."

"Do you know what's going on with the white-collar crcharges against Zachary?"

"It's obviously a setup. He's too smart to leave loose ends if he were really involved in something shady. He

wouldn't just sit around waiting to get caught." So, it was Ezekiel's uncle who did this.

"Do you know why?"

"No idea."

"Why do you know nothing?"

"Why don't you know anything either?"

Lenora was speechless.

She took a sip of coffee, remained silent for a few seconds, then suddenly said, "I'm going back to Clusia."

"There's no point in going back now."

"I know."

However, she still wanted to return, even if it was just to visit the detention center and mock Zachary.

Back home, Lenora lay in bed, tossing and turning.

She hadn't expected Charles's words to be true.

Zachary had indeed staged a play with Susanna to drive her away and cut ties with her.

What had he promised Susanna in return for agreeing to such an act? What a wastrel! And those words he'd said

towere so convincing that even I'd believed him. Good job, Zachary. Truly, well done. Lenora gritted her

teeth at the thought.

After getting feedback from the manager, she hurriedly edited her photos and sent them back two days later.

This time, the manager approved them directly.

Lenora also sent a copy to the editor-in-chief.

When selecting photos for the magazine spread, the editor-in-chief and the manager spent half the day

debating.

The editor-in-chief wanted to consider aesthetics, size, and layout, while the manager simply picked the best-

looking ones. Unfortunately, she thought all of them were excellent, so they kept switching photos back and

forth. The editor-in-chief, exasperated, finally snapped, "Enough! We're going with these five."

"Okay, but that one really is amazing."

"Shut up."

"Old friend, | knew you wouldn't lie. This photographer is excellent. I'll definitely work with her again if there's a

chance."

The manager was satisfied. She had shown the photos to the actor, who was also equally satisfied.

Briefly flustered, the editor-in-chief puffed up. "That's why you should listen to me. You can't go wrong."

The manager then contacted Lenora for a quote.

Commercial photographers usually charged by the number of photos used.

The two commercial photography projects Lenora completed brought her more money than her monthly salary

at Saleel Photography. Moreover, since she was just starting out and charging low rates, her earnings would only

increase as she gained recognition. After wrapping up this project, Lenora bought a plane ticket back to Clusia.

Apart from Elijah, she told no one, not even Zachary.

She didn't want Elijah informing him either. Zachary was in detention, so he might not get the news anyway.

Lenora didn't pack any luggage, taking only a small bag with essentials like her phone, charging cable, ID, and

passport.

Once she landed, she hailed a taxi to the police station where Zachary was being held and submitted her

documents to apply for a visit. An officer escorted her to the visiting room to wait.

Before long, Zachary appeared behind the glass under police supervision.

The moment he saw Lenora, he froze. His heart began pounding uncontrollably, and his cuffed hands clenched

into fists in excitement. Nora? She left, didn't she? Why is she suddenly here?

Lenora lifted her gaze to study Zachary.

It had been almost two months since they'd last seen each other.

He appeared somewhat thinner and more disheveled than before.

Zachary took a deep breath and sat opposite her without a word. He gave her a cold stare and asked

impatiently, "What are you doing here?"

Lenora snapped out of her thoughts and smirked mockingly. "I cto laugh at you, of course!"

Zachary was taken aback.

Lenora tilted her chin and continued, "I wanted to see how you, the chairman of the Fuller Group, and the

scumbag who deceived me, ended up in such a pathetic state!" This was the first tshe had openly ridiculed

him like this.

The once-obedient and considerate girl was now standing tall, gloating at his downfall.

She must hate me, right?

From her perspective, she had every reason to.

Even though this outcwas orchestrated by him, Zachary couldn't stop the ache in his heart.

It was as if a deep wound had been carved into his chest, bleeding uncontrollably, suffocating him with pain.

His chest felt heavy, tinged with bitterness.

However, he couldn't let her see any vulnerability. He had to maintain his composure and reveal no cracks.

Zachary pressed his lips tightly together and said coldly, "Don't get too smug, Lenora. The investigation isn't

over yet, and you're already kickingwhile I'm down. Just wait. When | get out, I'll make you pay!" "Oh, I'm so

scared!" Lenora said in a mock-frightened voice, then sneered. "Makepay? Let's see you try once you're out!

Oh, by the way, Zachary, your situation has taughtsomething important." "What's that?"

"Justice exists after all."

Zachary was speechless.

"Oh, and | forgot to tell you. I've started dating someone in Fairlake. He's gentle and caring. Don't worry about

Grandma or Hattie. I'll take good care of them. You just focus on staying here."

With that, Lenora smiled sweetly, hung up the phone, and left gracefully.

Zachary's ears buzzed, and he froze in place.

She... She has a boyfriend in Fairlake? Impossible! How could that be? She wouldn't lie about it just to spite me,

would she? She really has a boyfriend. Zachary's heart felt like it was being torn in two, the pain cutting into his

very soul.

A trace of ferocity flashed in his eyes.

So what if she has a boyfriend? She'll always be mine! | need to get out of here as soon as possible and tear

apart the man who took her away from me!
