Emyr placed his phone down and rubbed his temples, the pressure in his head building. “How long are you
planning to keep eavesdropping?” he asked, his voice low.
Charmaine strolled into the room, a casual smile playing on her lips. “Mr. Emyr, you're mistaken. | wasn't
eavesdropping. | was listening openly.”
Emyr lowered his hand and gazed up at the woman now approaching him.
“Freya went to beg Master Field for help,” he said, his tone neutral.
Charmaine nodded. “I figured as much.”
“She’s had to endure a lot to get him to agree. Whether he helps or not, | owe her a debt,” Emyr added.
Charmaine’s lips curved into a mischievous grin. “Isn't that exactly what Freya wanted, Mr. Emyr? For you to owe
her?”
Emyr’s eyes flickered with sharp amusement as he took in her playful tone. His gaze darkened slightly, hinting at
something more dangerous. “So, how do you suggest | repay her?”
Without thinking, Charmaine blurted out, “What about offering yourself?”
The air around Emyr turned icy. His expression hardened, his gaze cutting through her like a knife. Realizing her
slip-up, Charmaine quickly tried to recover.

“That's absolutely out of the question! Mr. Emyr, you're so wise, so noble, and undoubtedly the most handsome
man in the world! You would never be so easily offered to anyone!” she exclaimed, a nervous Haugh escaping
her.
The coldness in Emyr’s eyes softened just a touch.
Charmaine grinned slyly. “Besides, if that’s the case, I'd have to repay you the sway, right?”
Emyr raised an eyebrow, his jaw tightening. “You think that after I've helped you, you could repaylike that?”
Charmaine gritted her teeth, holding back a sharp retort.
Emyr waved his hand dismissively. “This task is yours now.”
“I don’t-"
“The money from the three cakes you made? Consider it your commission,” he interrupted.
Charmaine immediately perked up, all signs of laziness disappearing. “I'll make sure Ms. White is completely
satisfied!”
Emyr nodded in approval, his mood visibly lighter.
For the next few days, Emyr was absorbed in his work, focusing on preparations for the diplomatic summit.
Meanwhile, Charmaine found herself with srare free time. Bored, she decided to spend it on the crocodiles.

fifth. It now moved with much more speed and energy. Even the pet doctor, who cfor a routine checkup, was
impressed by Fish’s health under Charmaine’s watchful eye.
Two days before the summit, Celeste had been nagging Charmaine for days, finally convincing her to calong
to help pick out a dress.
After informing Emyr about her plans, Charmaine was surprised when he handed her a black card without
a word.
She blinked, puzzled. “But there are still plenty of new clothes upstairs, all with the tags on.”
Emyr simply responded, “Having clothes at his one thing, but if you find something you like out there, that's
another.”
Charmaine’s curiosity piqued. “So ... you won't deduct it from my salary, right?”
Emyr gave her a cold, sharp look. “Say one more word, and you'll see what happens.”
Charmaine grinned sheepishly, taking the card. “Thanks, Mr. Emyr!”
At the mall, Celeste immediately pulled Charmaine into a tight hug.
“Oh, my gosh! Charmaine, | can’t believe you really came! I thought you were just saying that to make me
happy! You're the best!”

Charmaine struggled to push her off, her lips twitching as she said, “Am | too late to back out now?”
Celeste wouldn't let go. Instead, she locked her arm around Charmaine’s, shaking her head firmly. “Not until we
shop ‘til we
drop!”
Charmaine sighed inwardly, wishing she could escape right then.
Celeste had already visited the store a few times and had her eye on several dresses from LK'’s haute couture
collection. But she was still uncertain, which was why she asked Charmaine to help her choose.
After trying on several dresses, Celeste twirled in front of Charmaine.
“Charmaine, which one do you think looks best?” she asked eagerly.
Charmaine thoughtfully appraised each one. “The pink dress with diamond accents is a bit too flashy. For an
event like the summit, it could steal attention from the main focus. The silver backless dress is too casual, while
the velvet gown, though simple, has a quiet elegance that’s just right.”
Celeste’s face lit up. “Oh! That's exactly what | was thinking! The salespeople kept pushingtoward the pink
and backless ones, saying they'd make a statement, but they didn’t feel right. Now | understand.” really do have
an eye for this, Charmaine!”
“Then let's go with the velvet one!” Charmaine said with a smile, waiting while Celeste changed. She used the
tto wander around the store.
While browsing, Charmaine’s attention was caught by a men’s display. A sapphire brooch glimmered in the light,
designed to resemble a crescent moon cradling a star-a unique and striking piece.
She asked the sales associate to bring it out for a closer look, just as the excited voices of snearby shoppers
caught her attention.
