Leah had been running Milo’s entertainment company for a while now, and the more she took charge, the more
she found herself struggling to balance the demanding work with her school duties.
It wasn’t until after she fully assumed control that the truth hit her. Milo had always claimed that he built the
company with her in mind, but when Leah asked him to help her land acting gigs or variety show appearances
last year, he always refused. He insisted she focus on her studies, discouraging her from working too hard.
At the time, Leah believed Milo truly had her best interests at heart.
But after reviewing the company’s resources, she was stunned to discover that Milo had been hoarding valuable
opportunities all along. He had given them all to the female artists under his wing, none of whom had found any
real success.
They were still struggling to stay relevant in the competitive entertainment industry.
Leah was furious. If she had been given those schances, she was certain she could've done far better than
those other women.
The Nelsons had exhausted every lead in their search for Milo, but no trace of him could be found. Frustrated and
desperate, Leah decided to meet with Bennett and Sophie in private.
The three of them carefully arranged to meet in a quiet, secluded tea room for maximum privacy.

Bennett's company, which had once been flourishing, was now rapidly collapsing. Though he clung to a sliver of
hope, still trying to keep the business afloat, the moment news spread that Charmaine had appointed a janitor
as the new CEO, Bennett becthe laughingstock of the industry. His last chance for a comeback had been
obliterated.
In less than two weeks, Bennett had lost a noticeable amount of weight, his appearance worn down and
defeated.
He hated accepting it, but he had no other choice. Eventually, he was forced to go to court and file for
bankruptcy.
He had spent over a decade building his company, his home, his luxury cars ... and in the blink of an eye, it was
all gone.
All because of Charmaine.
Leah eyed their disheveled, beaten-down appearances with clear disdain. She surveyed the room before cutting
to the chase, “Milo’s really dead, right?”
Sophie, looking more worn out than ever without the financial support, spoke in a voice laced with resignation,
“With a mountain that high, do you really think he could have survived?”
Leah snapped, “How should | know? All | know is we searched everywhere and still found nothing.”
“If we can’t find him, then he’s gone for good. It’s been too long-if he were alive, he wouldn't just be hiding,”
Bennett added with a sneer. “With all the wild animals in those mountains, he could've been eaten alive, left to
rot.
“And don’t forget, your grandfather's methods have always been reliable.”

Leah paused, the thought of that offers a small sense of reassurance.

Sophic, however, scoffed, “Who said they were reliable? Charmaine’s still alive, and her clothes even gave me
bedbugs! I've got rashes all over from them!” Her face twisted in disgust.

She had cleaned everything on her own, not wanting to alert the Nelsons to her distress. Just thinking about it
made her skin crawl.
“But you've got Milo’s company now, and the Nelsons won't let you contact Charmaine. Isn't that a good thing
for you?” Sophie asked, her tone hopeful.
Leah frowned. It didn’t feel like enough.
Bennett noticed her hesitation and leaned in, sensing an opportunity. “Leah, with Milo out of the picture and the

Leah raised an eyebrow, eyeing Bennett's eager expression. A sense of wariness crept into her thoughts. “What
exactly do you mean by that?”
Bennett sighed, leaning forward with urgency. “You're not even related to the Nelsons by blood. There's always
been sdistance between you two. Look at Milo. He was the one you were closest to, and in the end, he’s the
one who betrayed you first. If we hadn't acted quickly and found that nurse, do you really think the Nelsons
would've still accepted you? Do you think anyone would've protected you?”
Leah's fists clenched, her face hardening.
Bennett pressed on, speaking faster, “Your real family, your true allies, areand your mother. Everything you
have today, it's all because we've worked so hard to make it happen for you. Who else wants to see you succeed
more than us?”
Leah couldn’t help but inwardly sneer.
“You don’t have to try and make it sound noble. You just want to useto climb the social ladder and get closer
to the Nelsons, don’t you?”
Bennett's lips curled into a dark, calculating smile, one that lacked any warmth.
“My dear daughter, we're family. We're in this together for mutual gain. How can you say it's all about using
you?”
