Chapter 736 Everett's deep, dark eyes were fixed on the table as his slender fingers tapped rhythmically, like he was trying to make up his mind about something.
Joy held her breath for a moment. "Everett, is something bothering you? I mean, I did kind of spring this meeting on you out of the blue. My bad." "If you're busy, we can totally catch up another time." She played it cool, using the old reverse psychology trick, calm and considerate.
Everett saw right through her little game, but it didn't matter much to him. He wasn't interested in her, no need to get into her intentions, but her brother, Abraham, was another story.
Abraham was like a godson to his grandfather, a few years older, making him a sort of god-brother. Back in the day, Abraham's career soared, thanks in part to Josh's backing.
Josh was a guy with vision, knew how to look ahead. He understood that everyone grows old and steps down eventually. When his old pals retired, he had to groom new successors. That's how Abraham climbed his way to influence. Of course, he had the chops; without that, no amount of help would've done the trick.

If Everett didn't build new bridges quickly, the goodwill Josh had with Abraham would start to fade.
Everett clicked his pen closed and looked up. "Sure, let's grab dinner." Joy lit up with a smile.
She wasn't clueless. In that split second, Everett had sized things up. He wasn't interested in dinner with her; he wanted to meet her brother.
But so what? Unlike Selena, Joy had family ties and connections she could use. She was determined to win Everett's heart, no matter the cost. She wouldn't be all sentimental like Selena, fussing over why a guy was with her.
These were her perks, ones Selena didn't have.
All she wanted was to marry Everett, spend her life with him, and have his kids. That was her dream of happiness.
Joy smiled and looped her arm through Everett's as they left the office together, turning heads as they went.
The helicopter touched down in France.
Selena headed straight for the hospital. Blaine was still in surgery, his fate uncertain.
She stared at the red light above the operating room, her heart heavy, and asked what had happened.
Everything seemed fine when they talked on the phone that morning.

What kind of argument could push a woman to such lengths? "And where is Mrs. Blaine now? What's her status?" Blade replied, "She's been secured, staying at the villa. We have to wait for Mr.
Blaine... to make any decisions." After piecing together the situation, Selena let him go to rest.
In the quiet hallway, Selena sat holding her sleepy son, waiting.
She looked calm, but her body trembled slightly.
Though she'd only reunited with Blaine just over a year ago, the blood tie was undeniable. She already counted him as one of her closest family members.
Their reunion had been hard-won, and she couldn't bear losing him ve now.
Ava was just as worried. Her lady's love life had been avollercoaster and ve MR Blaine wasn't exactly arock. If so happened to him, who'd look after her lady?
Besides, she'd spent a good deal of twith Mr. Blaine, and she didn't want anything to happen to him either. mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1 mmMwWLliIofifl0&1 mmMwWLlilofiflo&1
