Jude opened his eyes, smiling bitterly as he poured himself a glass of water and drank it. "I tested Mom. | asked her what she
would do if Dad betrayed her and even tried to harm us."
"She said she didn't want to think about it, but there was one thing she was sure of. She didn't want her son to be at odds with his
father. Furthermore, she didn't want her son to be seen as someone who hurt his own father."
"Because no matter how excessive my father's actions were, he is still my father. | can seek revenge and punish him, but | can't do

Colin was too shocked to speak.
He looked up at Dorothy, lying quietly in bed.
