Chapter 1141 What About Lucy?
Cherise tenderly cradled her filled belly, her fingers tracing gentle circles as she posed her inquiries, her voice laced with growing
anger. "What has prompted this abrupt rush toward marriage?"
"Did you not mention that Lennon harbored profound affection for Lucy?"
"Why, then, is he hastily tying the knot with Violet in less than a fortnight?"
"Surely he's aware of the mistreatment Violet inflicted upon Lucy in the past?"
Cherise's fury surged with a deluge of questions. Then, without pause, she continued, "Why did you not cut your ties with Lennon
earlier?"
"A man like him is contemptible," she added, her disdain palpable.
"He failed to shield Lucy while they were together, and now, after parting ways, his attention seems fixated solely on her, yet
behind everyone's back, he's pre-determined a date for his wedding!"
Listening to his wife's impassioned grievances regarding Lucy's unfair treatment, Damien offered a helpless smile. He tidied away
the small bed tray and put it away, his voice gentle as he spoke. "There's more to this than meets the eye."

"To get his inheritance from the Belcourts, Lennon must wed Violet."
Cherise couldn't help scoffing in response, "Hmph, it all boils down to money at the end of the day."
"Trust me, it's not merely about finances," Damien countered.
A faint smile graced the corners of Damien's lips. "Firstly, for years, Lennon's romantic ties with Lucy have created tensions with
the Belcourts. Marrying Violet is the quickest and easiest method to mend those fractured ties."
"Secondly, akin to Colin, Lennon can only access privileges previously beyond his reach by assuming the mantle of heir within the
Belcourt family."
Cherise persisted in her skepticism, scoffing, "Do not even bother putting Lennon next to Colin."
"Colin is striving to ascend as heir of the Gray family so that he can uncover the details regarding his aunt's issues."
Cherise probed further, her lips pursed in skepticism. "And Lennon? What about him? Is his motive solely driven by financial gain?"
Cherise's expression hardened. "I suspected as much. Lennon, being slightly older than you and having served under your
"He yearns to prove himself, and | empathize with his desire to stand toe-to-toe with you, but his chosen path is misguided..." she
trailed off, her voice tinged with disappointment.
Damien regarded her with a helpless gaze. "Then, Cherry, do you think that Lennon should remain loyal to Lucy even if she gets
married to someone else?"
"Aren't the scales tipped too much in Lucy's favor?"
"I'm not expecting him to stay devoted to Lucy, but surely he can't just leap into Violet's arms the moment Lucy rejects him, can
he?" Cherise retorted.
"He exhibits no consideration or respect for his affections toward Lucy!"
Damien offered her a smile but said nothing in response.
The more Cherise vocalized her thoughts, the more she grappled with the realization that her unjustified emotions lacked proper
sense.
It appeared... she had no grounds to feel aggrieved with Lennon.
After all, the one who sought iveness to mend their relationship was Lennon, only to be rebuffed by Lucy.
He was well within his rights to seek a new path...
Yet, despite her rational understanding, Cherise found herself increasingly troubled.
On a logical level, she understood Lennon's decisions.

But on an emotional level, iveness remained far from her grasp.
"Alright now," Damien murmured, offering a helpless smile as he enveloped the pouty girl in his embrace. "Cease worrying over
the affairs of others and simply rest."
Cherise's frown deepened, snuggling deeper into Damien's embrace. As she breathed in hisforting scent, she broached a
delicate topic. "Darling."
"Mhm?" Damien responded softly.
"What would happen if...one day, | turn you down as Lucy did with Lennon... if | were to regard you with coldness, would you get
over it and seek solace in another lady?"
Damien gently drew her closer, his hands cradling her. "Stop talking nonsense."
"lI won't allow you the opportunity to turndown in such a manner."
Tenderly, he pressed a kiss to her small forehead. "The affairs of others are not ours to bear; the only thing we can do is silently
watch over them."
"I know you and Lucy are super close, but you must refrain from intervening in her romantic affairs, do youprehend?" he
added, his tone serious.
