Book6 Chapterl2.
Luca and | left together, while Ryan continued to yell at us from behind.
I didn't look back.
I had given him too many chances; my heart was completely closed off to him.
| thought my cold demeanor would make Ryan leave.
But he not only didn't leave, he found my address and rented a place right next door.
The next morning, he even madebreakfast and brought it over.
| didn't open the door, but he said from outside, "Becky, | made your favorite breakfast, and I've left it by the
door."
"You might not want to see me, but you need to eat. You've just had a procedure; you need to take care of
yourself."
Suddenly, | remembered how shortly after we got married, my parents died in a car accident, and | was
devastated.
At that time, | stopped eating and drinking, lying in bed crying, uninterested in everything.
He cooked forevery day and keptcompany.
He said, "Becca, you need to eat. Your health is the most important thing."
"Although your parents aren't here, I'm here with you."
Ryan really was good at taking care of people, and he showed genuine concern.
But | knew very well that his heart wasn't truly mine.

To my surprise, Ryan was sitting at my doorstep with a thermal food container in his arms.
Seeing me, he was overjoyed and quickly stood up.
"Becca, you're finally out. Please eat something; it's still warm."
The sperson who had abandonedso many times was now the one showing concern.
| really didn't understand what he was thinking.
"I'm not eating, Ryan. I'm asking you, please stop disturbing my life.
We're done."
"And you like Lana so much; why are you botheringnow?"
I looked at him.
He quickly tried to explain, "Becca, listen, there's really nothing betweenand Lana. | don't like her."
"Those times | left you were because of her emergencies."
"Have you never thought about how coincidental that is?"
"I know now. She's been lying toall along. She didn't attempt suicide, nor was she il."
He grabbed my hand.
"Becca, you know I've always had
kind heart. | thought she was truly sick, and since she had no one else in Northridge, | went to help her."

| spoke calmly.
"Luca is better than you. He

to anyone.
That's why he didn't stay in Northridge when he left for the South.
"Ryan, even if you die in front of me, it's over between us."
With that, | walked over to Luca's side.
