Book Chapter8.
Thinking about what Sarah and the vendor said, | realized I'm not the same
person | used to be. | can't be so submissive for a man.
| packed up my things and moved out.
| went to stay with my grandmother.
After my parents passed away, she was my only family. She had been a painter in
her youth, and when | arrived, she was still working on her art.
"Becca, you're here!"
She smiled warmly, her eyes crinkling with joy.
| couldn't help but cry as | hugged her tightly.
"What's wrong, dear? Who's been upsetting you?"
Just thinking about how Ryan Mitchell treatedmade it hard to speak.
Grandma saw throughand patted my shoulder. "You had a row with Ryan, didn't you? It's alright. Even teeth
and tongue have their spats, so it's no wonder people do. It'll blow over, and he'll caround."
But this was different from an ordinary argument.
That night, | received a message from Ryan. It was a photo of Lana Brooks' wrist.

And everything Lana did was right.
Back then, | really thought | was in the wrong.
| tried hard to change, but now, I realize it's not my fault.
| should be passionate, free-spirited, and live for myself.
Why should | be controlled by him?
So, | broke up with him and blocked his number and messages.
| wanted nothing more than to live quietly in this small village for a while.
Grandma didn't pressfor details. She just keptcompany, cooking and painting with me.
But before long, Ryan showed up.
He stood at my door with my winter coat and a lot of gifts, kneeling on the doorstep.

| stayed upstairs, reluctant to cdown.
He added, "Let's get married when
we go back. I'll give you and our child a home. | was wrong that day, and Dwon't criticize you

| didn't know how to explain to Grandma that | didn't want this baby.
Thinking of her last wish madeeven more reluctant to speak up.
She immediately let Ryan in and treated him with the best food and drink.
Ryan put my coat onand took out the ring he had bought me, kneeling before

Ryan was still smiling as we drove..
Show we used to b

Yes, back then we were innocent.
No complicated emotions.
