Then, I picked up the remote control and pressed play. The massive screen on stage flickered to life. The footage was unmistakable. It was security camera footage from Caden's study.

Heidi's face drained of color. She opened her mouth but couldn't force a single word out.

"See for yourself. That's you, sneaking into Caden's study and stealing the blueprint for the Azure Haven. If you were Tessa, would you have done something like this?" The silence that followed was suffocating, and then the audience below exploded in talk, with spointing fingers at Heidi with hateful and disdainful expressions.

Heidi's POV: I stared at the screen in shock, my head shaking involuntarily. I opened my mouth, but no words came. My legs gave out beneath me, and I collapsed onto the stage, trembling. Finally, I choked out a sob and whispered the truth.

"Yes... It was me. I did everything ... but Caden, Caden ..." Then, in a fit of desperation, I turned my tear- streaked face toward Caden, grasping at the hem of his sleeve. "I did it for you! I only wanted to always stay by your side! And I never gave the blueprint to Everett! You have to believe me! You have to!" My voice was hoarse, and I had no idea how it had ended up like this.

Today was supposed to be my engagement day with Caden. It was supposed to be the happiest, most dazzling moment of my life. So, how could this happen? I was utterly devastated. My entire body trembled as I stared at Rosaline and Caden before me. A wave of unwillingness, of sheer refusal to accept reality, surged throughlike wildfire.
