William eyed Evelyn and asked, “Didn't you tell them about my relationship with Ari?”
Evelyn bit her lip and muttered, “I apologize, Mr. Kingsman My friends were rude.”
“We're in school. Remember who | am,” William warned.
“Got it, Mr. Kingsman.” Evelyn had to swallow her resentment no matter how frustrated she felt.
“Let’s eat elsewhere.” William led Ariana out of the cafeteria. Along the way, countless students stared at the
pair and whispered among themselves.
Lila was still stunned even after the pair left. Maddie turned to Evelyn and grumbled, “Why didn’t you tell us
about Ariana’s connection to Mr. Kingsman?”

“Exactly! Now that I've offended Ariana, what if Mr. Kingsman comes after me?” Lila panicked and was on the
verge of tears.
She tugged at Evelyn's sleeve and wailed, “What should | do? I ruined his meal, and if he tells my parents, I'm
doomed!”
Evelyn was briefly silent. Then, she said, “Don’t worry. I'll talk to Brian and have him handle it.”
Lila finally let out a sigh of relief. “You're right. Mr. Lodge cares so much about you, and he’ll definitely help if you
ask.”
Evelyn forced a smile. She’d thought that William was just stringing Ariana along. Now that Ariana was Brian's
fiancée, she was certain that William would sever ties with the former.
But from the looks of it, William didn’t seem to plan to do so at all.
It seemed that she’d have to bring this up with Brian when the twas right.
